HISTORY
In 1998 a group of Rockford parents, with leadership from the school’s administration, began building a network of Michigan school districts. First targeting the blended count issue, and working with state legislators, the Network reduced the blended count from 40/60 to 20/80. Since that time the Network has worked together on a number of issues, including state aid.

BENEFITS
Network members learn about current education issues, and stay current with legislation related to those issues. Members have an opportunity to learn ramifications of legislation and effects on students, as well as receive accurate information regarding candidates and issues. The Network works to establish and maintains communication with legislators. Network members receive updates and legislative alerts regarding current education issues and their ramifications for students.

MEMBERSHIP
The Network has grown to over 70 districts, and is comprised of superintendents, school board members, parents, and teachers.  The hope is that the Network contacts will spread the word in their districts, providing an even broader base of support on issues that affect our students. Ongoing communication with legislators and collaborative problem-solving  is the key to effective solutions.

CURRENT EFFORTS
Currently efforts are being focused on Special Education, School Funding, and No Child Left Behind.
